Liza Lievens, Agronomy Trial Coordinator

Actually, no two days are the same here. That even differs per season. In the winter I spend a lot of time at the office: discussing with colleagues, preparing for the coming season and evaluating how the tests went last year. The growing season starts again in mid-March, or at least all the preparations for it. In the spring and summer, you can find me in the field a lot, with peak moments during sowing and harvesting. Then the entire company rolls up their sleeves, and together we ensure that the job is done.

My daily work
That versatility is one of the best things about my job. As a coordinator, I am responsible for a part of the trials that we do at Solynta, right from the approach and design of the trial on to the evaluation. I find the coordinating part very challenging and also consider it to be very rewarding work. I make sure everyone can do their job well and is satisfied. But I'm also very hands-on, so I wouldn't want to miss working in the field.

The right mindset
I also like working with plants, and at Solynta I can use that interest to contribute to the world food problem. In that sense, my work can really make a difference. I also enjoy working for an innovative and ambitious company. I like to pioneer, to explore, and that's really the mindset at Solynta. With a very enthusiastic and driven team, we are committed to creating something beautiful together.

Challenging working environment
During the three years that I have been working at Solynta, every day has been challenging. Solynta is growing, the departments are growing, the trials are getting bigger and more specific. As a result, it never gets boring and I also continue to develop myself within my position. In addition, I currently follow the college course in Horticulture and Arable Farming at Aeres college in Dronten on a part-time basis. I had been wanting to do that for a long time and I was looking for an employer who was open to this. At Solynta they were immediately enthusiastic about it and my colleagues are also very involved in my education. This way, my employer really helps me to develop myself and vice versa: I notice that by developing myself, I can bring more and more value to the company.”
