Wageningen, the Netherlands — June 11, 2026 — Solynta today announced the official registration of its diploid hybrid true potato variety SOLHY019 on the Dutch National Variety Register, following formal approval and publication by the Dutch Board of Plant Varieties. This milestone marks the first-ever registration of a diploid hybrid potato variety grown from hybrid true potato seed (HTPS) in the Netherlands, reinforcing Solynta’s position as the global pioneer and leading breeder of hybrid potato varieties.

About Hybrid True Potato Seeds
The ability to grow potato crops from true potato seeds, instead of only from seed tubers, offers significant advantages to potato growers. Seed tubers are more likely to carry disease or spoil in transit and are more expensive to transport and store. Solynta’s hybrid true potato seeds are disease-free, have a shelf life of many years and are much smaller and economical to transport and store. Additionally, hybrid true potato seeds are available year-round.
