To expand our Supply Chain team and to provide our customers with good quality seeds, we are looking for a:
Seed Production Specialist
(32-40 hours)
We are looking for a production talent with an innovative mindset and ideas on seed production.
Your role
As a Seed Production Specialist, you will oversee and enhance both ongoing and new seed productions in alignment with commercial demand. Collaborating closely with the seed production research and breeding teams, you will provide support to seed production partners worldwide as needed. Your role will involve optimizing production protocols, closely monitoring their implementation, and proactively recommending improvements to ensure efficiency and quality.
You are a highly motivated, hands-on, and adaptable professional, dedicated to supporting our production partners worldwide. You will maintain close communication to provide guidance and assistance, ensuring smooth operations. Additionally, frequent on-site visits to these producers will be a crucial aspect of your role.
You will primarily be based at our headquarters in Wageningen, where you will participate in planning, project, and team meetings. Additionally, you should be prepared and willing to travel frequently, spending 20-30% of your time visiting our international production sites.
Main activities
- Seed production planning & administration (production contracts, monthly crop progress reporting, yield estimates, seed receiving)
- Consistently update the ERP system with the latest data from all production locations to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Monthly seed production planning meeting according commercial demand
- Supervise and support ongoing productions
- Manage inventory of parent start material
- Project lead for improvement trials at seed production locations
- Key user for all ERP processes related to production administration
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (HBO+) in Plant Sciences, (Agri)business, Horticulture, Agriculture or related studies
- 0-5 years professional work experience
- Experience with ERP/ planning software
- Flexible work attitude: offer support during peak moments in seed production and frequent (international) travels
- Excellent communication: good soft skills to discuss (crop) problems with external producers and to improve processes globally
- English communication and reporting skills at good level; other languages are a pre
- Able to work efficiently in a dynamic environment where every day brings new challenges
- You currently live in the Netherlands
