We are looking for a hands-on, ownership-driven Financial Controller to join our finance team at an exciting stage of our company's growth. As our company keeps on evolving, you will be the engine behind our financials (reporting); in which you will collaborate closely with the entire Finance team. At the end of the day, you will own the numbers and further build our processes that will carry us forward.
Key responsibilities
The outline of this role is not set in stone and highly depends on the capabilities of the applicant and can be extended depending on interest.
Financial reporting & general ledger
- Own the numbers in the General Ledger of 7 legal entities
- Go beyond period-end position: understand the transaction types, journal entry logic, and underlying flows that explain how the numbers move
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes efficiently and accurately
- Lead the preparation of the annual report, including disclosures and notes
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with IFRS (or local GAAP as applicable)
- Oversee project accounting activities, ensuring accurate cost tracking with budget adherence
- Conduct periodic balance sheet reviews in collaboration with the CFO, identifying variances and ensuring the integrity of financial records.
- Periodic balance review with CFO
- Submit/review quarterly VAT
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Depending on experience, (co-)ownership of financial reporting tool LucaNet
Group reporting
- Prepare and submit the consolidated group reporting package
- Coordinate intercompany eliminations and reconciliations across group entities
- Opportunity to take a role in CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) implementation and sustainability reporting to group
Internal controls & process improvement
- Point of contact accountant
- Identify gaps in financial processes and implement scalable controls appropriate for a growing organization
- Drive continuous improvement across finance operations — automate where possible, strengthen where needed
- Develop and improve reporting templates and processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, R&D, commercial and leadership teams
What we are looking for
Experience & qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional qualification (RA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is a plus
- Candidates must have residence in the Netherlands.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a financial control, reporting, or audit role
- Proven experience preparing consolidated financial statements and group reporting packages or eagerness to learn
- Hands-on experience with General Ledger ownership and month/year-end close
- IFRS knowledge is a plus
- (Financial)agriculture experience is a plus
- Proficiency in LucaNet or a strong eagerness to develop expertise in the platform is a strong plus
- Candidates must have residence in the Netherlands.
